About Appalachian Fable
Artist Ana Nelae Henry
Ana always had a love for nature and the art that could be made from it. Her passion for the mountains and it's cultural folk art lead her to move to Asheville, NC where she began teaching herself the X-treme art of chainsaw carving. Recycling trees that were cut from building development, Ana began carving whimsical bears for local charity organizations.
Within a short time, the demand for public appearances and donations for auction lead her on a regional tour expanding into the New England states. The most recent style of the work has changed tremendously. While still capturing and preserving the beauty of the magestic mountain scenery, a collection of river driftwood carvings are Ana's newest addition.
Ana demonstrates her carving abilities with a powerful Husqvarna 346 XP at various charity events in Upstate NY. Carvings from demonstrations are usually donated to the charity during the event. If you represent a non-profit organization in need of a charitable donation, please read the order page and e-mail with your request.

A small carving takes very little time to rough out using the saw and a grinder. Painting and finishing is a bit more time consuming. Carvings are made from scavenged wood that has been seasoned to prevent excessive checking. Most carvings are finished in a matte sealer as to avoid the "shiny-plastic" look.
